The people of Haiti need us to contribute to relief efforts, and there is no better way to do this than through the time-tested, widely-acknowledged work of Project HOPE. A short story. Yesterday (1/14) I was returning to the airport from a meeting in Miami Beach (don't be jealous; I got to walk outside for 30 min.) The cab driver turned out to be Haitian. We asked about his family. He said that they were fine because they were outside, returning from work, when the quake hit. However their home collapsed completely and had they been there, they would have surely died. The tragedy is all the greater since, as he explained, most people in Haiti do not go to work because there are no jobs for them and so they sit inside their homes. And these are the people on whom the earthquake brought merciless destruction and death.

The people of Haiti need your help. Rise to the cause. Join me in doing what we can to do at least one small thing to relieve the mass suffering that is going on there.
