I wanted to drop a line and invite you to participate in a little donation drive I'm doing for Project Hope. They are a humanitarian aid organization that provides much needed medical staff and supplies in Haiti. Currently they are operating from the USNS Comfort, which is a 1,000 bed US Navy hospital ship anchored off the coast of Port-aux-Prince. They also operate hospital ships of their own and are trying to expand their earthquake response efforts. If you've been watching the news, you already know that the most needed assets in this tragedy are medical supplies and money to buy medical supplies.

I have applied as a physician volunteer with Project Hope and several other groups. At the moment there are more doctors on the ground than there is equipment for them to use, so I'll have to wait my turn. I want to help out in any way I can while I'm still here in Louisville finishing up the Emergency Medicine residency program. Any donations will be applied directly to PH efforts in Haiti; naturally they are also tax deductible.
