I am so excited to spread the word about HOPE's new fundraiser to raise money for bicycles in Malawi. For $168, you can provide one of sixty crucial bicycles for HOPE's TB collection, monitoring and outreach program in Malawi.

Did you know that collection of TB samples are performed by volunteers? Volunteers who walk 3 hours one-way to perform collection and outreach activities within the community? One bicycle would help them reach more members of the community in a shorter period of time, helping to slow down this very infectious and dangerous disease. As it stands now, every TB infected individual passes the disease to 10 others. Maybe with the use of bicycles, we can help to decrease the incidence of this disease.

It was my honor and pleasure to recently attend training with the Program and Country Director of this very important project, Mr. Rodrick Nalikungwi. His dedication to this program is impressive. He has inspired many volunteers and healthcare professionals to take action against TB in Malawi.

I was astonished to learn that there are volunteers willing to give up many of their days and the use of their homes in order to support this wonderful program. It seems very simple and easy, in comparison, to donate a bicycle!

My good friend and co-worker, Shelley Starliper, happens to be the accountant for the Malawi program. She and I have decided to buy a bicycle for this wonderful program so that volunteers may continue their good work and the work of Mr. Nalikungwi and Project HOPE.

I urge you to please check out Project HOPE's website and information about this very important project. Please consider buying a bicycle for the TB program.

Save a life from tuberculosis. Help raise funds so HOPE can purchase bikes for community health care workers in Malawi. The faster these workers get to the labs with samples, the faster patients can be diagnosed, treated and cured.
